The application for the 2018 Top Solar Contractors list is now open and available on the Solar Power World website. All U.S. contractors interested in applying can begin the process here. The deadline to apply is Friday, May 25.
The Solar Power World Top Solar Contractors list is the most recognized annual listing of solar contractors in the United States working in the utility, commercial and residential markets. Companies are grouped and listed by specific service, markets and states by the previous year’s installed capacity.
The 2018 Top Solar Contractors list will be the seventh edition. View previous lists here.
The list is only open to companies headquartered in the United States and only counts U.S. installations. Applicants must choose a primary service (either developer, EPC, rooftop contractor, electrical subcontractor, installation subcontractor or, new for 2018, manufacturer installer) and a primary market (either residential, commercial, utility or off grid). Service definitions and other list explanations can be found on our FAQ page here.
New for 2018, all applicants must submit proof of installations. Data must be submitted to support claimed kilowatt installation numbers. We require for each project: project size (kilowatts), project location (city, state), project completion/utility approval date (between Jan. 1, 2017 and Dec. 31, 2017) and the company’s role on the project.
For subcontractors unaware of project commissioning or utility approval dates, please include your work completion date along with the name of the general contractor or project owner, so we have secondary information in case we need to follow up. For off-grid submissions, please provide work completion date and any secondary information to assist us in verifying numbers.
Please note, provided information will not be used for any other purposes or provided to anyone else for solicitation. Information will be destroyed after installation numbers are verified.
Five documents or datasets may be submitted with applications to show 2017 projects, although we’d prefer one Excel document (see example submission here). Sensitive or confidential information can be removed. Submitted data will be verified with state interconnection records, utility records and an advisory board. We will use context clues if submitted completion dates do not exactly match official records. We have the right to remove companies from our list if we feel they have exaggerated numbers or cannot adhere to our data request.
Data must be submitted at the time of application, so there is plenty of time to gather the appropriate information. Again, the deadline to apply for the 2018 Top Solar Contractors list is Friday, May 25.
