Our area has just connected to a new 600 acre solar farm and guess what happened to our electric bills! They doubled in price!? The cost for residential solar is so high that only the BIG farmers in our area is the only ones who can afford solar. I live in a poverty stricken area with alot of seniors with set incomes. None of them can afford individual residential solar or the homes do not qualify for solar panels to be installed. Well why can’t they install the panels standing up beside a residential home just like they are on the solar farm? I am mad, sick of the electric companies, and very upset at the solar panel installer companies because the cost of solar panels, installation, etc. Are outrageous!!! How are anyone in my area ever going to afford solar panels? They might as well build a new house just to have solar installed. People here can’t afford that. They barely make it by on what they do have. The companies involved just make me sick with their greed.

At first blush it (could) be dismissed as “just another conspiracy” theory and yet as you have pointed out like, the RICO trial of First Energy in Ohio that the electric utility industry is afraid, very afraid of losing all sway in how they will make money in the near future as an energy partner, not an energy purveyor. NEM 3.0 in California has the same stench of usury as Ohio has been found guilty of. FP&L often referred to by customers as Florida Plunder and Loot. Xcel Energy in the Northeast power region basically gaming the system to get and keep the MOPR which should also be vetted by the FTC.

One of the very conflicts seems to be we already have a “wholesale energy” authority at the Federal level FERC that passes rulings like 841, 2222 and even recently ruling 1000 has hit the news cycle, showing the rote IOU electric utilities are in collusion to abrogate energy freedom for all Americans. FERC should be the ombudsman to use Federal rights of ways for UHVDC transmission interconnection corridors that will enable power to be shuttled coast to coast and north to south in a robust wholesale energy grid for regional ISOs and RTOs to connect to for a grid interconnected for maximum power capture and dispatch. The “powers that be” have slapped the grasping hands of the electric utility industry time and again. It’s NOW time to break out the “hammer”.
