Yeah, rrriiiggghht, “stakeholders”. IF this ‘entity’ can’t get divergent agendas together for a nationally connected wholesale energy grid, then it is a failure to launch from the start. This country needs well interconnected transmission feeds in the wholesale market to be able to service the nation from coast to coast and north to south. FERC and the Federal government could become ombudsmen in using Federal rights of ways, to get UHVDC interconnects along federal rights of ways to get the wholesale grid interconnected for the future of distributed energy generation, storage and dispatch.

Read a recent article about “segmented” grid connections. Basically a grid broken into feeder nodes that can be switched around to feed energy past a portion of the grid in fault. Combined with VPP and distributed energy generation and storage, one could make the overall grid much more robust than it is now.
